This is a new beginning for me. I have succumbed to too many cheat days and not enough paleo days and have been mostly a regular person eating a regular American diet for quite a while now. I could say it’s because I’ve worked in 3 different states in the past 12 months, I could say it’s because I’ve been laid off twice in the past 12 months – but all of those would just be excuses; reasons to not take responsibility for myself and my health. Since I took Robb Wolf’s Paleo Diet certification class back in 2009 I have been a firm believer that paleo was the right way for me to live my life. I have to admit though, it hasn’t been the easiest to maintain eating paleo. In the past year I have tried to eat paleo ‘when I thought about it’ or ‘when I have time’. I found myself eating lots of breads and fried foods and all of the other stuff in a non paleo person’s diet.
I’m embarrassed that I’ve been so weak.
SO on to happier news.
I have now – in my time of unemployment – begun full-time-no-cheat-days-paleo. Not only is this an excellent time for me to really focus on what I’m putting in to my body, but it will be a great exercise for me to show that you CAN do paleo on a very small budget.
I’m not saying I will never have another french fry, or sourdough roll or piece of coconut cake in my life, but it definitely won’t be for a very long time and frankly, I’m okay with that.
If you have had a similar Paleo Epiphany or you have recipes you want to share please feel free! I love hearing from you all – it keeps me going!
I shall leave you with a song from one of my favorite bands.. The Shout Out Louds.
